Parallel Roads Glen Roy Scotland Glaciation
Parallel Roads Glen Roy Scotland Glaciation.
The Parallel Roads in Glen Roy in the Highlands of Scotland are a remarkable feature of the Glaciation 10,000 years ago. The 'parallel roads' are the shorelines of lochs or lakes formed due to glacial ice blocking the valley.
Glen Roy is renowned for canoeing and sees many visitors, even on winter days. Had it not been for the corbetts and grahams hidden within the valley, I doubt whether we would have ventured along this fabulous Glen.
I would recommend a detour to visit it - head North from Roy Bridge near Spean Bridge and you'll not regret it!
The book Hostile Habitats has a section on Glaciation as well as a wealth of information on Flora and Fauna. It is one of my favourite books.
