Self-catering Holiday Accommodation sleeps eight Ballindalloch Aberlour Banffshire Scotland

Self-catering Holiday Accommodation, sleeps eight, Ballindalloch, Aberlour, Banffshire, Scotland. This spacious detached country residence, Marionburgh, is set in a large mature garden with trees, shrubs and beautiful lawns. Ballindalloch is one of the very few privately owned castles to be lived in continuously by its original family, the Macpherson-Grants, since 1546, and is still a much loved family home. Visitors enjoy complimentary entry to the castle and gardens during their stay here. The castle boasts elegant rooms and fine furniture, while outside there are lovely riverside walks, a 17th-century dovecote and a beautiful rock garden created early this century. The estate is also the home of the famous Aberdeen Angus herd of cattle, and now the oldest herd in continuous existence. The new Ballindalloch Castle Golf Course is sure to be a winner with golf enthusiasts. The Donald Steel designed 9-hole, 18-tee course is set in a stunning location in the Avon Valley, close to the cottages of Drumnagrain and Swiss Cottage – a perfect way to spend a day. The beautiful River Spey lies at the heart of the region’s prosperity. Its clear waters contribute to the excellent whisky produced here, with distilleries of Glenfiddich, Glenfarclas and Glenlivet all nearby. Visitors are welcome to come and sample the product! The River Avon is also renowned for its excellent salmon fishing, which visitors can enjoy by prior arrangement – permits are required and may be obtained from the estate office. There are many lovely walks, either along forestry tracks or on the Speyside Way, all taking in the splendid scenery, and canoe trips can also be enjoyed on the river. The Moray coast is easily reached in less than an hour, with many excellent sandy beaches to explore. There is a golf course and many other facilities at Nairn, a Maritime Heritage Centre at Buckie, and dolphin spotting at the fishing port of Lossiemouth. Locally, Ballindalloch has a P.O., shop, and the Delnashaugh hotel with restaurant. Spacious living room. Dining-room with feature fireplace (ornamental only).
