Grounded at Perth airport, 29th November 2010.

Unseasonal November weather causing chaos in Scotland and no hope of anyone flying at Perth Airport!

Walking Cul Mor 13th November 2010

Walking Cul Mor 13th November 2010.

How can I describe two excellent November days walking in Sutherland, Scotland. We climbed the corbett of Cul Mor on the Saturday providing great views of one of my all time favourite hills in Scotland, Suilven. We then couldn't resist getting a different perspective of this iconic mountain, so we enjoyed a super Sunday on Canisp. If you haven't tried walking in this part of Scotland, you really should!

Our accommodation at the Naismith Hut was first class. Thanks to the SMC for maintaining this superb facility.

Bishop Hill and Loch Leven from Vane Farm walk

Bishop Hill and Loch Leven from Vane Farm walk.

A great day out on Friday 29th October 2010, with a visit and walk at Vane Farm Nature Reserve, Loch Leven, followed by a walk up Bishop Hill on the other side of the Loch.

We were well impressed by the set up at Vane Farm with cameras covering the Loch, providing excellent views of the myriad of wildfowl. A nice warming plate of soup set us up for the woodland walk behind the Reserve, providing great views over the Loch. A distant Bishop Hill, one I've always wanted to climb, wavered in and out of the mist, but we were glad to climb it later and could only imagine what superb views could be had on a clearer day.

Birnam Hill from Newtyle Hill 17th October 2010

Birnam Hill from Newtyle Hill, 17th October 2010.

It's good to get a different perspective of a hill from its neighbours, and we enjoyed the views to Birnam Hill from Newtyle Hill on a lovely Autumn afternoon. The trees around Birnam and Dunkeld are beautiful at any time, but the Autumn season surely sees them at their best. I particularly love the shapes of an oak wood and the subtle colour changes. Just magnificent!

Lovely walk around Loch Morlich in the Cairngorms National Park on Saturday 23rd October 2010. A nice even track takes you round the Loch in less than two hours. Although the cloud was down on the Cairngorms, there is still much to enjoy!
