It boasts two living rooms, an indoor gym and a sauna, and provides an ideal base from which to explore the Western Isles.
Known as the ‘Gateway to the Isles’, Oban is a bustling town overlooked by McCaigs Tower from which there are breathtaking views. Nestling round a busy fishing and boating harbour Oban has a good selection of shops, cafes and excellent seafood restaurants. Don’t miss a visit to the fine whisky distillery, the War and Peace Museum and Oban Chocolate Company. Lively Oban has a variety of events throughout the year culminating in the Argyllshire Highland Gathering (August) with its bag-pipers, Highland dancing and Highland Games. An ideal base for exploring the regions historic attractions, it is just a short drive to the ruined castles of Dunollie and Dunstaffnage whilst regular boat trips leave the harbour bound for Duart and Torosay Castle on the Isle of Mull. On Mull visit historic Iona and colourful Tobermory and the Treshnish Isles with their comical puffins. Enjoy the underwater splendour of the Sea Life Centre just north of Oban. For the active, Oban’s Atlantis Leisure Centre is not to be missed. Easily reached by boat are the Isles of Lismore and Kerrera with an abundance of wild flowers, bird and wild life including buzzards, heron and otters. Argyll is also a garden lover’s paradise, and there is a huge selection of superb forest walking to be enjoyed. Cliff top walks, boat launching and diving facilities in the immediate area.
