Strathchailleach Bothy Sutherland

Strathchailleach Bothy, Sutherland.

Strathchailleach Bothy is one of my favourites as it has a plentiful supply of peat to burn on the fire. Every crofter has the right to cut peat, but many gave it up due the backbreaking nature of the task and the supply of alternative fuel. With the rise in fuel prices however, there has been a return to the cutting of the peat.

There is nothing quite like the smell of a peat fire!
